Candlelit Tears came from a very difficult period in life when God felt far off and prayers seemed to be going nowhere. It’s an awful thing to live through. Yet, we’re all called to suffer while we groan for God every now and then. It is what it is.
I went through a long period of time when I thought God didn’t care about me anymore. I’d pray and pray and get nothing in return but silence and misery. My life was stalled, and my faith was being challenged. I was trying to prioritize God, but yet, God didn’t seem to want me. In fact, I remember spending a lot of those dark days wondering how God could be so cruel.
Yet, I couldn’t give up. I mean, how can we completely walk away from God? It’s impossible. We can walk far, turn our backs, and do everything in our power to resist God, but there’s no way to escape God entirely. Realizing that made me angry and even more miserable, because I thought that I was stuck with a God who was taking pleasure from my suffering.
What I didn’t know was that I was being strengthened, refined, beaten and broken into something that was pleasing to God. Even though that didn’t necessarily relate to my prayers, that process prepared me for the life in Christ that I was meant to live.
It also took time because heaven needed time to make things happen in order to answer those prayers. Waiting a long time for answers is usually a sign that those answers are going to be nothing short of spectacular and miraculous.
